Drive to Abomey from Lome or Cotonou depending on your start point. In case you start in Lome,you will have to stop at Hilakondji border for VISA processing.On the way you will stop to visit a village called Agongointo which used to exist in the past and was underground. In Abomey enjoy a hike around the city.Abomey is a colonial city and most of the building including official ones date from colonial time and look very beautiful.
The tour starts with a visit to the Abomey museum which is the biggest in West Africa.Its full of old items and you will for sure learn a lot about kingdoms on the west arican coast and the kings who resisted against French colonization in Dahomey kingdom.You will continue later on visiting the different kings places in the city with its reign periods and explanations.
Your guide will drive you to Calavi .You will then take a boat ride to Ganvie fishermen village.The village has the particularity to be in water.People living there currentlys ancestors settle there at early 18th century to escape slave traders.Most of their activitiesincluding market,school,hospital happen on the lake .After luch in Ganvie you will drive back to Lome or Cotonou
